If the Enterance Door to the Ironstone Lodge building is closed we are not ready to start. The only exception being other Adults who are helping and their children entering the building. We will open the entrance door when we are hopefully ready from 6.50pm.

Running Costs

  • Our Scout Group is a Registered Charity which needs income to support the running costs of the Scout Group. Below briefly outlines what these are. Scouting itself is very good value for money.
  • Income: The main Sources of Income within our Scout Group come from Membership Term FeesGift Aid and the Scout Christmas Post Fundraiser.
  • Membership Term Fees is a Fee which can be £10 Monthly Instalments, x2 £20 Half Termly or one £40 Full Payment to whichever suits yourself.
  • We prefer you pay online but will also accept Cash.
  • Outgoings: The big cost is the Yearly National, Regional, County, District Membership Fee per Child which is Approximately £60 Per Child.
  • Our other main cost is the weekly hire of the meeting place plus other costs that include general running of our Scout Group.

Safety + Safeguarding in Scouting

  • Young people thrive in safe surroundings.
  • We’re committed to ensuring that Scouting is both enjoyable and safe for everyone who takes part, along with providing parents with peace of mind. Please read the Scout Association’s Safeguarding + Safety Policies on how we safeguard the welfare of all members.
  • All DBS volunteers who help to run our activities give their time freely to help young people enjoy Scouting and have completed the latest Scouting Online Safeguarding + Safety Learning

Helping out on a Thursday Evening

What do volunteers do?

Week by week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re our everyday heroes. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.

That’s where you come in

You don’t need to be a polar explorer like our Chief Scout, Dwayne Fields, to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand.

We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about mini bus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.

Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity. Sleeping over on a nights away event, no two Cub Pack meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great.

We provide online Learning You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life.

As long as you're over 18, you can help out as an adult volunteer in Scouting. There is no upper age limit for adult volunteers. If you are aged between 14 and 18, there is the option of becoming a Young Leader.

We understand that everyone have different commitments and not all parents can physically help out. Ideally to have regular Thursday help is great but helping out every other week or once a month would be a great support.

Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is. Please view the Current Adults Availably Page below.
